22x10 offset 40 is what I have on all four of mine. Here's my thread so you can see how they look:
http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=974651. 22x10 offset 40, 22x11 offset 35 is for staggered and actually looks better - I didn't know much about this and wish I had gotten 22x11 for my rear wheels. Some members have done 22x10.5 with 22x12. It won't stick out. This is the second wheel in 21", which I'm sure you've seen all over:
22" won't be that much bigger.
