Actually i don't think so. I know a few people who tried to do this and pay for the X5 in cash. BMW would not sell them the car if they even suspect they are going to export it out of the country. All suv's are in hot demand now and its cheaper to export it to china then to buy one there suppsidly.
Since these cars connect via satellite i wouldn't be surprised if they locked out the OP's car on purpose once it connected showing its now out of the US.
