After many years I came to a boring conclusion: from about 105 °F to 0°F for my F85 I use the same OEM oil - and even more boring, I keep it until the service advice lights up, about every 15 - 20.000 mi.
Now, with some 55.000 mi the car, often driven "with real brio" on German highways, uses 1 to 2 quarters of oil between oil changes and seems quite happy.
Modern oils seem to have become so good that spending extra money for extra oil changes seem wholly wasted - and environmentally questionable.
