Funny, this is the exact same thing I did. I was going to get a used M6 for about $50k, excpet I figured it was a much better idea to get an 08 M3 with 8k miles on it instead (plus more factory warranty) for the same cost.

The new M3 has a much smoother trans than the M6- plus the M3 handles better b/c it is so much lighter. Although the M6 is a boss and touches supercar territory regarding all specs, but the M3 is a much better deal than a used M6. Now if you have the money to pony up and get a slighlty used M6, that is a different story!
