I have a 3rd row E70, and even with that limitation, I only carry the spare on road trips in the trunk and there's ample room for it with my stuff:

Hope this helps. I'm not sure why you'll want to carry the spare with you everywhere you go, but then again I live in an urban area and if I run into issues in my urban area (not on a road trip), my plan has always been I'll uber home first and figure the rest out later. Most of the time, I'll have kids in the car, so there's no way I'm subjecting them and myself to the time of installing a compact spare while I'm only 5 miles away from home.
