Ok, never mind. I am getting too friggin' old. Trying to make things harder than they need to be. I removed the plastic air intake cover (the one with a blank on the passenger side and the air intake tube itself on the driver's side). Thought that gives me plenty of room to reach each of the top tabs from the back. With the depth of the grille itself, there's not enough leverage room to pop the tab.
Fast-fwd 5mins ago, when I re-read Alan's thread where he included the nice pics of the removed grilles and mentioned that he removed five screws. That's when the "duh!" moment hit me. Removing that shroud right ABOVE the grilles gives you instant access to top/side tabs, thereby really making it a 10min install job. Stupid me, but at least now I know it should be a quick job tomorrow (or perhaps I'll burn the midnight oil when I get home).
Thanks in advance, again, Alan!
