ordered (non OEM) double slat grill and yanked out the original ones. I didn't care about breaking clips when pulling out.. but if you spent some more time than a few minutes, you can reach and lift the clips from the front with a screwdriver (without losening the bumper or any other screw or even without opening the hood) and click/pull the grill out of it without breaking anything.
