I did find two main problems:
1) The reaction time is kind of slow, so it doesn't work for windy roads at high speeds where cars will be coming and going quickly. For slower one-lane roads it works perfectly.
2) The car would mistake some road markers like cat eyes and signs for other cars. For example on one road there are cat eyes, reflectors on the center and side crash barriers, and lots of signs. It would constantly think there were other cars. Also stop lights in the distance could be mistaken for tail lights, so it would be creating a tunnel with nothing inside. Very weird.

Both of the issues you mention are acknowledged by BMW: see the screenshot below from one of their training manuals. Nevertheless, you should find that the camera reacts very quickly
once the headlights of an oncoming car come into its direct view.
