I made an appointment have the creaking in the trunk fixed next week. Well, on Tuesday I decided to have a look at the strikers and anything else that may be contributing to this problem. I opened the hatch, cleaned them with a damp cloth and to my surprise the creaking is gone. It is now Friday and as of this morning's commute the vehicle was quiet, like it was meant to be. I fully expect that the creaking will come back when enough dust accumulates on the elements I cleaned, but I thought I would share this for those looking for at least some temporary relief.

This did also make me wonder if putting a bit of silicone grease on them would help longer term. I'll have to try that if/when the noise comes back.

Unfortunately for me, unless the noise comes back before my appointment I have nothing to show the service adviser.
