No. Their tune for the 550i (stage 2 - which I think there is only one tune to buy now but you can add exhaust, etc in stages), advertised that the tune worked by including improved shift points in the low gears. It was explained to me by BMW of Gwinnett that Dinan engineered stage 1 to be for the motor and stage 2 to include integration with the transmission. I later spoke to Dinan tech support and they state they do not alter the tranny ECU, but they've learned how to work with the tranny ECU strategy to build a better tune. Therefore, from a dead stop, the tune launches the car - it wasn't acceleration, it was violence. Whatever you call it, they learned how to use the transmission strategy with their engine tune to scare the crap out of you.
