I own a X5 F15 30d. I just came back from a road trip to France. We drove about 3500km and the average consumption was 9.5l/100km when we came back (average speed 96 km/h for the whole trip). On the motorway I locked the cruise control to 160 km/h, and that speed isn't what I would call economical. The car wanted around 12l/100km in that speed.
9.5l/100 km = 30 MPG (UK)
12l/100 km = 24 MPG (UK)
