Ok, that makes more sense now visually.

Any number of things could have caused the sensor to pop out. If a BMW dealer did the brake job, then they should have installed that sensor correctly.

With that said, and as I and another alluded, those sensors are fragile to seat. Some have a micro metal retaining clip that holds them in place. I'm sure the dealer would make it right and warranty their work. The job itself is less than 10 mins of labor (put vehicle on lift, remove wheel, locate and unplug sensor, plug in new sensor, seat new sensor in the notch on inner pad, re-install wheel).
