I've had my X5 40e for a couple months now and absolutely love it. A couple questions I haven't been able to find answers for so hoping you guys can help.

1) The charging cable that comes with the car (level 1), is it safe to plug it in outdoors? We only ever plug-in with the cable in our garage but when we go out of town I'd like to take the portable charger with us. Unfortunately the car will be outside.


2) I have the car set to "reduced charge" when plugged in at home. Plugged into a standard outlet in our garage, if our house was built in the last 5 years is it safe to assume that the electrical in the home can support normal charging instead of reduced? (still level 1)


As far as the X5, its been awesome. We got 780 miles on our first tank of gas since delivery. Almost 1000 miles on our second fill up. When most of the driving is done around town and you are mostly on battery it makes a huge difference. In car fuel economy reporting an average of 39 mpg since delivery.
