The OEM level 1 EVSE that comes with the X5 is made by ClipperCreek. It's almost identical to this model:

https://store.clippercreek.com/level...arging-station

120V 12A. Outdoor rated, fully sealed NEMA 4 enclosure. UL certified.

It should be able to be used outdoors under reasonable conditions using a GFCI outlet.

Electrical code is +25% of continuous load so for a 12A EVSE the circuit must be rated at least 15A. If the breaker and wiring meet the minimum requirements then set the car to charge at level 1 Max (it will still take 7+ hours).

If you take the EVSE on a trip, bring an outdoor rated extension cord that at minimum is 15A rated. When charging, if the car is locked the J1772 plug is locked to the charging port and cannot be easily unplugged.
