Even though I'm in warranty now, I've gotten into the habit of hooking the car up to a battery tender to charge that baby up maybe once every two weeks if the weather is good especially I'm going a lot of stop-and-go driving or I've parked my car too long since my dashcam hardwire is set to 72 hours timer...
Anyways I believe the battery will be fine if you don't program it... just if you disconnect the battery without the car being connected to a secondary power source the car may not start or something as a security feature.
