I think they had plenty of problems in the first model year, but everything has been addressed and the 2017s have generally been very reliable. 2018s will be out in a few weeks.
I think you hear a lot of the worst experiences on forums and a smaller percentage from the majority of owners that have had no problems at all. Mine has been perfect so far.
