I wouldn't be surprised if the stock rotors are just as heavy. The X5M rotors are larger but they are also 2 piece with a aluminum hat where as the stock unit is a one piece cast iron unit.

Love following this thread! I would strongly suggest one thing -
paint the hubs black! On our 'll X5d, the 20" wheels looked awesome...but you could see every detail inside and outside the wheel (yes, I washed the inside and outside part of the rims). After a year or so, the factory hub started turning a really ugly color. Dealer wouldn't do anything about it, but I hated it for a year...until the rotors had to be replaced under factory maintenance
