if they r closing out it may be because the manufacture is bringing out a new model... possibly...
as for car performance tires vs truck specific tires, truck specific tires usually have more plys in them making them stiffer to carry more weight. this will make the side wall stiffer and less prone to roll over when cornering hard, but will also make the ride more harsh. for a X5, i think a car specific tire will do fine.
