I agree, the data is all over the place. We end up believing whatever we want to that confirms our point of view when it comes to crime and other statistics. Some like funding level etc are easy to confirm since they are published by authoritative sources. I am sure there are some official stats on crime. But the narrative that crime is increasing because budgets for police are being cut is usually not true...could be in some cases....
