  • I see from the link that an additional key purchase is required. It does not say what kind of key (fob, or otherwise). And, I don't know if my dealer's $800 includes the key. I'm going to check back with them after the product starts shipping.

My email from BMW lists which models are compatible:
  • 2014–2016 BMW 5 Series models (excluding M5 and ActiveHybrid)
  • 2014–current BMW X5 models (excluding M and xDrive40e)
  • 2015–current BMW X6 models (excluding M)
You either have to let them use your existing second key fob (leaving you with only one) or they can order a third one, which puts the total cost well over a thousand.
