My 2015 also came with headphones. Seems ridiculous that they would not include them. I've heard of various others trying to pair non BMW headsets with mixed results. To avoid a headache I'd just pony up the cash and get the BMW headsets and be done with it. First i'd make sure that you were not supposed to get them with the option you already paid for.
