In reality I'd prefer the entire air curtain from the x5 m50d as half has "real" breather and the other half separated by the "strip" is the honeycomb plastic. Just looks much better in my opinion. Is this design solely so that air goes over the wheels and out the side vents? Almost which they took the xline intake design and merged with the M sport vs the plastic honeycomb. Well at least there are no issues with the engine...oh wait I got the V8 that has been sitting at the VPC for 6 weeks waiting for a repair
