People also seem to forget about maintenance. I suspect (i don't know 100%) that the batteries don't have a lifetime warranty. Which means in 7-10years when they deteriorate (like ALL batteries do), they'll need to be replaced. Think a box full of double A's are overpriced??????
Depends on where you live. Here in the Pacific Northwest, electricity comes mostly from hydro, (not that I really care if it came from coal. If I cared about crap like that, I wouldn't be shopping for a large SUV) and electricity prices are lower than anywhere else in the country. And as far as worrying about 7 to 10 years... I would do the same thing whether it was a plugin hybrid or a x50i, trade it in for something else in 3 or 4 years, so that's not an issue for me and anyone else who does that or leases cars.
