Another thing that helps with oil consumption is to not rev past 3k rpm and 50% throttle until the engine warms up to operating temperature. The tolerances between engine parts will be tighter when it warms up, which will help keep oil from passing between parts of your engine.

I haven't seen any mention of the PCV system, which is how you get oil in to your intake manifold. Everyone should be using a catch can system to prevent this.
