I've heard this as well and read it from other members... I had dark bamboo wood trim with my previous cars and to be honest the clear coated lacquer scratches easy as well and it is very visible at certain lighting angles.
As of today 2,500 miles and 2 months later the aluminum hex trim is fine with no issues with scratches. I have inspected the trim carefully and I am not concerned about damaging the trim.
