the, the only annoying part is at crawling speeds where the auto hold will tend to stop the car for u, and not in a smooth way.

maybe ur wife's lexus has hill assist instead of auto hold feature. that would explain why it will only hold for a few secs and disengages. the x5 has this feature too.
