Understand your frustration but I like this feature. Twice with my wife's car i dropped her off at a store only to drive to my desired stop. At some point realized i should not turn the car off because my wife had the keys!
Also, it's not good for your engine to idle for a long period of time to warm up (presumably defrost your windshield).
