Different tires have different attributes, so they will display different strengths and weaknesses depending on the environment.

Summer tires are made of a material that are very sticky, and have a tread pattern that is usually straight or like a track that flex and grip asphalt like Spider-man, but those same tire won't do so well on grass with a coat of dew on it, like in the Top Gear video.

Winter tires are desingned with a more intricate tread pattern that dig into uneven or loose terrain, and are made of a rubber that is tough and durable, and can handle a wet grass climb uphill.

I said it earlier in this thread that you wouldn't go hiking in the mountains with running shoes on... the same priciple applies in this situation.
