If we follow the conventional wisdom on the Tesla forums, then it's unwise to charge to 100%. And it's why Tesla probably enables owners to set charge levels. My understanding is that this isn't possible on the X5.

The other thing to consider is that for the Tesla, the battery is way bigger and way more expensive to replace. The battery IS the car. No battery, no car. The X5 isn't as reliant on the battery and the battery isn't as big. My guess is that charging to 100% will lead to quicker degradation but realistically speaking is a non-issue.
