I did have it done. They make it clear that it is deactivated when you buy. Says clearly on the monroney "de-coding for anti-dazzle." It sounds as though it was a bit trickier on the new Idrive. I don't know enough about it to say if that's true or not.

Sadly that was all part of an unexpected trip to the dealer for an issue with the display key.
