Re: the SRT8, it's no different than Camaros, Chargers, and mustangs.. you can get good, even great performance for a fraction of the cost of a BMW, but you will suffer in several other areas, you get what you pay for.
No one looking at a Jeep or Ford, etc should expect to find the same "fit and finish" or ride quality as a luxury brand. Anyone surprised they can't get the same quality for 30 - 40% less should take a high school economics class.
None of this means you can't cross shop the GC as a lower cost alternative. It's a good looking SUV with a lot of features for the money. Being in the same class as an X5 is just not one of those features, nor should anyone expect it to be, nor was it ever intended to be.
