Little history. I coded my I3 a few months back perfectly and has not been into the dealership yet.
My X5 was just in for service and installed the MPPK and they updated the software so all my coding went away.
Now I try to connect with the same laptop that I had put away in the garage for awhile and the Connect by VIN is grayed out!!
I have shut down the car, unplugged the cable many times, restarted my computer, shutoff the wireless but nothing :-(

So you are getting fallback IP (169.254.x.x), but refresh does not pull up VIN with same IP as listed in connection details? Are you using any third party firewall or antivirus? Is the Engine running?
