Well, we do have the 21% taxes here in Belgium, but other than that the buying is not the problem.

It's driving it: 80% of BMW's ( and other luxury brands like MB, AUDI, RR, PORSCHE,et ...) in BE are leased company cars, which until 2 years ago was a great advantage for an employee to avoid paying crazy taxes on any salary increase.

But now our dear government has invented a new rule for paying taxes: it's called "benefit in kind" and where in the past you would pay a fair amount of taxes on the company car, you are now faced with paying taxes on up to 18% of the total car value...per year ! ( depending on CO2 )

So a company BMW X5 3.0d will cost you around 4000 euro a year in taxes. Ouch...

But my understanding was that in the Netherlands it was worse ?
