I was in the same situation, purchased my X5 with one key FOB. My salesman ordered/bought the key FOB for me as well. I was told or I read on here (can't remember) that you have to have it programmed at a authorized BMW dealership and It cost a couple hundred dollars and it take 2 hours. Now, idk if you can do it on your own or not, but I had my vehicle in for scheduled maintenance on Saturday and asked if they could program my key FOB. When I went back to pick it up yesterday, they didn't program the FOB. I asked my SA about it. He took my vehicle and both FOBs and 5 minutes later it was programmed, no charge! |
Wow 5 min I can deal with that but 2 hours that's crazy! Car is currently in the shop so hopefully I can drop off the key and get it done.
