Is it the comfort seats which have the automatic thigh extenders or the sport seats ?

Comfort seats also known as Multi-Contour Seats are all Automatic.
Head rest, upper part of the back rest / seats adjust forward and back, side bolsters adjust automatically, and the thigh bolsters adjust automatically.
Sports seats ( standard on US Msport cars ) are
similar to the comfort seats AKA multi-contour seats. Only differences are manual thigh adjustment, upper part of the back rest / seat does not adjust, and side bolsters do not adjust.
In my opinion.. Multi-contour seats aka comfort seats is the king of seats and should absolutely be clicked when ordering
any BMW.
