Hi Jugdish,
I was in a very similar situation - Not realising that without the HUD you don’t get the “Extended” instrument cluster as standard.
Fear not though – After lots of research and direct comparisons, I can confirm that the actual difference is negligible and definitely not worth refusing delivery/re-ordering over – Reasons below:
1: The standard display is not analogue/matrix, it has a full colour LCD display at the bottom - Featuring: Nav instructions, Calls, Phone book, Track lists, Speed limit, etc etc… - Exactly as the “Extended” display does.
2: The “Extended” display you get as standard with HUD is not the full digital display (As pictured below by Watrob -that’s a 3rd cost option) – It is simply a slightly wider version of the standard analogue/LCD hybrid display – The LCD display instead of finishing at the edge of the left hand dial/speedo, continues through/below it (in the same way the standard display's LCD does through the right hand dial/rev counter).
3: All you are missing out on is an extra 3 inches max of mostly blank LCD display, very little is actually displayed on the extended section! (The OB Computer & Time simply move to the middle) - The line design running across the bottom + the digital fuel gauge in the bottom of the left hand dial/speedo, are the only things of note that you will be missing.
Hope this helps.
All the best and enjoy your new X5,
Joe
