EGR Delete but Keeping the DPF (should i keep SCR)
Are there any opinion on the merits of this? I would like to keep the diesel exhaust smell to a minimum and am planning an ECU tune.
I don't see the value in removing the exhaust to add in a DOC catalytic. It's a lot of work and expense.
As long as the DPF regeneration is working, I can't see how soot would build in the intakes. So, I am thinking of keeping the DPF. It's almost no maintenance.
I am not sure if I should keep the SCR. I assume the diesel smell is burned off by SCR, so I think it should be kept in tact (but am asking the forum what they think). The only pain seems to be maintaining the DEF which is not really a pain at all.
If the SCR is disabled somehow in coding, can it stay in place? If there is a failure mode, what would it be? I assume the DEF would have to be burned off or drained to prevent crystallization.
