All,

New to the forum, long time lurker, first time poster.

2017 X5 M50d owner. Owned for nearly two years and love the car. Ticks all the boxes.

Have had a previous issue with the infamous "sagging rear end" - deemed to be leaky rear bags (50k and 5 years old, seems to be around the trigger). Bags replaced with Dunlops 3 months ago - no issues since. Until last week.

Car was fine. Started her up, sat in to wait for 3/4 minutes to warm up and the rear sagged right to the floor. Almost as if the compressor wasn't working. "Chassis" warning came on screen (not the limited/restriction message, simply "Chassis - get it checked".

Took into BMW this morning and they have called stating the compressor needs replacing. Eye watering amount.

I am considering moving to springs, front and rear - Eibach seem to be the go to. A couple of questions though;

How can I confirm that it is indeed the compressor that has gone?

Can my car be converted to spring only?

If yes - is any coding required to when removing the air system?

Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks a lot!
