I understand you're trying to make an informed decision etc but if MPG is even a remote concern, you cannot get the 50i. You'll be so horrified by the mpg you'll lose sleep. You'll also always be looking at the MPG estimator jumping back and forth while driving and might get into an accident because you're not watching the road. Funny how that little guy starts at 12 - what if you can't even get 12!!!

I briefly attempted to entertain the 35i - and even test drove one. It certainly wasn't bad - but of course then I drove the 50i - and that was the end of it.
I ordered the 50i.
For me not a big deal as I work 3 minutes from the house but I agree if you are even remotely concerned about gas mileage - run, don't walk - to the diesel or straight 6.
