Your driving schedule is similar to mine, except for the 1% steep dirt part. I enjoy every mile of it.

The X5 M has a lots of "character" - quiet and sweet if driven slowly, but very engaging if pushed to its limits - great fun, every time. I start every long trip looking forward to it, even if I'm tired - for me this is a good "acid test" for any car.

Children have a good rear entertainment system but it's still not BluRay capable...

After some 5000 miles the defect rate on my one is zero, not a single even minor malfunction or emerging blemish - and zero oil consumption.

I'm happy I bought the longest (6y) warranty extension, because I will likely keep it for many years.
