This guy provides a decent overview of Apple CarPlay. Personally I am not sold on it. If Apple increases the functionality, particularly outside of the US, I might option it in on the next car but right now, 95% of the functions can be done via iDrive voice control button triggering Siri e.g. "Read my last message"
