I've raced a friend's 35d with racechip for fun (giant closed lot) and it wasn't even close. Not sure which settings he was running.
Honestly though there is rarely if ever the occasion to use all that power on the streets as it reaches ticketing speeds almost instantly it seems. That being said I would definitely buy the 50i again just for the power and awesome sounds.
The only thing I've had to do is add two quarts of oil once in 16k miles.
