I've been a lurker on here for a couple of years. I had the same issue with the change getting in that channel on my X5d and used RufussCkingston guide here. I made an account just to say thank you. I also had a lonely dime get in there and was able to successfully take apart and restore the console and add some painters tape in that channel as well. Seriously thanks. The noise was driving me nuts for the last few days and I didn't want to pay the dealer to $400+ dollars to do something I could do on my own not to mention getting an appointment.
