I don't think that's a fair criticism. The complexity and performance envelope on a modern ///M car is far beyond what Steve cut his teeth on. Gone are the days when a hotter cam, intake, exhaust and simple, unencrypted tune revolutionized a car.
I'd rather the right product late (or never), then waste money on the wrong product too soon.
I am a bit surprised that an injection PU mold is really that much more expensive, but I can't imagine they wouldn't have considered it (which seems to be the case). |
For a scale of a company as dinan it really shouldn't take this long to "design" a scoop cover for the air box and stick a larger filters in it. It's one thing to design and engineer a piggy back just like they did but a scoop with with some filters? Come on now. They even stated it them self the design of the intake is great as it so to pop some larger filters shouldn't really take this much time, and yes I know what the replies going to be it's not that simple and there is a lot of engineering goes into that and such, but I disagree, original post was posted months ago and it could of been done awhile back. I guess there Is no such large market for those and in the end of the day if they not making 200% profit it really makes no sense of doing it whatsoever anyways. I will still wait for it to be released and see what price they will come up with but for a meantime I just dropped bmc filters in place which I don't think dinans design will outperform but much if any
