The
F85 X5 M has been spotted in testing since late 2012, and the F86 X6 M has now bared nearly all in our latest spy photos.
It's not difficult to identify this next generation X6 M as it shows the tell-tale M model signs - huge front air intakes, more aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X6 model). The newest M styling trends are also evident -- the double-slatted kidney grilles and the angled exhaust tips.
As our latest photos show, the front end styling of the next generation X6 (F16) and X6 M (F86) will share a similar front end design to the X5 (F15) and X5 M (F85), while the rear end draws heavily from the BMW X4 tail design.
Like the X5 M, the X6 M is expected to weigh in a bit less than the current model, yet it will feature more power by way of the twin turbo V8 S63Tu engine from the new M5/M6. Exact power is not yet known, but it's likely to uprated from the 560hp in the M5/M6.
The X5 M and X6 M will also be equipped with the M-DCT transmission, as seen below.
According to our
2015 BMW production chart, the new X5 M and X6 M will begin production December 2014 - January 2015.
