In terms of special tools the only one I didn’t have and REALLY wished I’d had was the etorx socket (i nearly stripped this bolt using an ill-fitting socket): Lisle 26860 E-18 Torx Socket https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0XLYW..._UfKvFbKH2SGNW

Only other advice I can give is if you order the OEM pads make sure you lightly bevel the edges (as described in the bmw docs above).
