Uhh, I would find out what the guy is about to do to your car. As mentioned, MPPK is ~$1000 USD so $500 would be a steal for that. Or if he is trying to do a custom flash of your ECU, that might be good, as long as the guy knows what he is doing. But no, you can't just code in more horsepower without thoroughly tweaking the ECU.
