It has areas where you cut for the tie downs, yes. I just didn't need to cut them out. because I don't use the hooks for anything....yet
. It comes rolled up in a skinny tall box. So you have to lay it flat in your trunk. The best way is to roll it down against the corners and push them against the carpet sides so it maintains the form for some time. Mine took two days to sit perfectly after putting groceries and what not on the mat. It's really durable yet thin. I didn't want anything too bulky. It also has the BMW logo at the bottom in silver - line this bottom area closest to the trunk lower door so it helps it stay flat.
I'm going to play some soccer tonight. I'll take a picture of it when I do so you guys can see how it looks.
