You can definitely overwrite existing Maps or Gracenotes for another region.
You can also change the FA codes and regional settings.
You can disable the GPS by coding, but then you would not be able to use it for maps or BMW Apps.
Lastly, there are ISTA functions for transport mode, but I do not personally know much about them.
