You guys are both right actually. It was 2001 model year, start of production as of September 2000, that debuted the first Angel Eyes. The E39 with Angel Eyes is still so beautiful, to me, even today.

And, as for question by OP: no it does not bother me, because BMW still looks the best, and agree with others that the thing BMW do right is not turning off the lights when a turn signal is on. That has always bothered me when I see cars do that.
